Lors d’une séance de spiritisme, une jeune femme tente d’établir une conversation téléphonique avec un être cher absent. Mais rapidement ce contact est parasité par un envoûtement durant lequel la magie vient perturber le bon fonctionnement des nouvelles technologies.
Appel en absence propose une plongée entre technologie et croyance, à l’intérieur du téléphone portable, objet devenu indispensable à notre quotidien, pour imaginer ce qui se passe derrière cet écran lisse : une fabrique de fantômes au sein de laquelle mineur et ouvrière ne fabriquent plus un outil de communication mais un objet magique au pouvoir ésotérique, du grec ancien « de l’intérieur ».
During a seance, a young woman tries to establish a phone conversation with an absent lover. But this contact is soon parasitized by a spell whereby magic comes to disrupt the correct functioning of new technologies.
Missed Call # Appel en Absence invites us on a deep dive between technology and spiritual belief. We journey to the interior of a cell phone, an item that has become essential in everyday life, to imagine what happens behind its slick screen : a ghost factory where miners and line workers aren’t crafting a simple communication tool, rather a magical object with esoteric power – from Ancient Greek “from inside”.
